FAQ: FRIENDS ANSWERING QUESTIONS
Let’s face it. The cannabis world is a big one (yes that’s a good thing). With so many ways to enjoy it, so many varieties to choose from, and so many effects you can feel, it can be overwhelming for those who want to start their cannabis journey. Lucky for you, Insa is all about educating people on the wonderful world of cannabis. We believe that the more people understand cannabis, the easier it becomes for them to find exactly what they’re looking for every time. And the first step to understanding is learning. So, for those who are full of questions and empty on answers, we’ve got you covered. Here are the answers to some of the most popular questions we get asked by new cannabis users.
WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CBD AND THC?
You see these two terms everywhere. CBD and THC are the two main components found inside the cannabis plant. Both are naturally occurring within the plant but have different effects on the body.
THC: Full name tetrahydrocannabinol (see why we abbreviate?) is the psychoactive component and is more responsible for the feelings of euphoria and pain relief associated with cannabis.
CBD: Full name cannabidiol is not inebriating. It can have pain relieving on the body and is best used for anxiety relief.
A relevant factor with cannabis products is the ratio of the two. The effects of high-THC products are felt more intensely than high-CBD products.
WHAT IS A GOOD DOSE FOR ME FOR THE FIRST TIME?
Like trying any new thing, you don’t want to dive in headfirst. The key with cannabis is starting off slowly. There’s plenty of room for experimentation and discovery. For first timers trying flower products, start with a product that has a low THC content. We recommend something in the 12-16% range.
If you’re using a vaporizer or one of our pre-rolls, patience is important. Take one inhalation and then wait at least 20 minutes to see how you feel before taking another. And remember the golden rule: You can always take another hit, but you can’t undo one.
WHY AREN’T EDIBLES WORKING FOR ME?
We’ve all seen the “These edibles ain’t shit” memes. As funny as they are, there is some truth behind them. Edibles can be tricky because the effect they can have is dependent on so many factors. A person’s digestive system, metabolism, the percentage of THC in an edible, and the type of edible can all determine the outcome. We have a couple quick tips for taking edibles:
Start low and go slow: like all thing’s cannabis, don’t overdo it. If you find that low percentage edibles aren’t for you, you can always up the dosage.
Pairs well with… : because of the way that cannabis metabolizes, edibles are more effective when eaten with high-fat foods.
Up the ante: If you feel no effects from an edible after a couple of hours, just take another serving. Edibles aren’t harmful and your body might just need a higher amount before the effects take hold.
